Brand and legal screening
Search for active companies, products, social accounts, and confusingly similar trademarks in the markets where you plan to operate. A domain purchase does not grant trademark rights.
For material legal risk, use qualified trademark counsel rather than treating an automated screen as legal clearance.
Technical and ownership checks
Confirm the exact spelling and extension, current registrar status, transfer path, renewal pricing, nameserver state, and whether the listing is controlled by the marketplace or seller you are dealing with.
Reputation and history checks
Review how the domain has been used previously, whether it appears associated with spam or unwanted content, and whether old backlinks or indexed pages could create confusion. Historical signals are context, not a guarantee of future search performance.
Transaction documentation
Save the listing, invoice, transaction messages, and transfer confirmation. After acquisition, secure the registrar account and verify renewal settings.
